Notes from Old North – B.E.T.S. goes to Hollywood

“Just over a week ago, scholars from several schools, including Confluence Academy-Old North, took the annual educational tour with the Brave Enough To Succeed (B.E.T.S.) mentoring group. This year’s destination was Hollywood. Their life experiences were broadened with a visit to Universal Studios where they learned about movie making, special effects, movie sets and props. They were able to take in some of the state-of-the-art 3D and 4D technology used on the Mummy, Transformers and Jurassic Park rides. Scholars, staff and family members were also exposed to one of the finer restaurants in Los Angeles, the M Grill Brazilian Steakhouse.  Afterward, ground transportation by Zero2sixty Infinity limo service gave them a view of the city and the Santa Monica Pier on their way back to the Hyatt Place in El Segundo.

Once again, we have changed lives forever by exposing our scholars to the world and what they can be if they stay focused on achieving higher education and being a productive citizen.  Old North scholars have gone to Orlando, New York, Chicago and Hollywood. Next year, we will go out of the country to continue the increase of exposure to our scholars, families and staff. Thank you to all who supported and to those who attended this trip.”
