We are proud to announce the completion of our new literacy library at Old North called The Believe Project. This project was made possible with the partnership and sponsor of St. Louis Black Authors, a non-profit organization that is committed to helping and creating opportunities to spread awareness and stress the importance of early literacy for children of color and to have access to Black children’s literature. There are currently 3 other locations, but this is the first location at a Charter School. We believe in providing black children literature to help engage our students as readers and have stories written about them and their interests. This new literacy library will serve grades from pre-kindergarten through third-grade students. Our hopes are to track the progress of the student’s proficiency in Reading and to increase the scores on the state-mandated assessment.
