We believe in promoting positive behavior and rewarding our students for their hard work and good conduct through the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Program. That’s why every two weeks, our school’s Positive Behavior Support Cart goes around the school, giving students the opportunity to shop with their Comet Cards.
Comet cards can be earned by exhibiting positive behavior and can be saved up for large incentives, such as themed parties. Over 60 students decided to turn in their comet cards to attend the slime party, which cost 30 comet cards to attend. There, students had the opportunity to make their own slime to play with and take home, as well as enjoy a yummy snack.
“The first party of the year was a slime party, and it was a huge success,” said Colbi Wayne, Guidance Counselor at Old North Academy. “The next big incentive is a s’mores party. Students are already looking for ways to earn more comet cards so they can participate!
The students had a blast at the party and left saying “Ms. Wayne always throws the best parties!”
