Members of Confluence Academy-Old North’s Men of Influence youth mentoring program and Mr. Jackson, technology teacher, attended Harris-Stowe State University’s Inaugural Male Empowerment Summit on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Students participated in workshops on topics such as financial literacy and social media etiquette/protecting one’s personal brand. The young men were present for a panel discussion on relationships with several local media personalities, educators and clergy. Afternoon workshops included topics such as entrepreneurship, persisting through obstacles and a presentation from award-winning youth speaker, Koran Bolden.
The weekend event was hosted by HSSU’s Black Male Initiative, which was formed in 2014 to intentionally develop boys to men professionally, academically, socially and ethically.
